Visit to Vishranthi [Back]
Viruksha’s long journey kicked off with the visit to Vishranthi – Home for the Aged and Destitute Women on 28th Feb 2009 located on the calm, serene shores of ECR.
Viruksha team was so warmly greeted with the blessings of all the inmates of the Home. An offering of food to the needy is equivalent to offering God. Viruksha had sponsored entire day’s food to all members of the Home.
Needless to say, Old Age is second childhood, Viruksha team entertained the Home with some fun games like “Passing the Ball”, “Anthakshari”, “Pinning the Donkey” and some “Riddles”. All of the inmates joined with more enthusiasm and energy, Most of them were above 70 years and it was surprising to see the excitement in them forgetting all their age and playing so joyfully. Special mention on the game “Pinning the Donkey” in which the winner was a 109-year-old granny.
Viruksha also arranged some games for Caretakers and more interesting to see the Grannies playing the role of cheerleaders supporting their caretakers. It was a day filled with Joy and happiness and more aptly rephrasing the old saying, we could see God through the smile on these Grannies face.
Before parting, Viruksha Team offered small gifts to every inmate of the Home as a token of Love and Affection.
Special Thanks to Volunteers of this Project M.Carojeya and K.Vignesh for making this a memorable event and an event to cherish.
